Better protection from a thicker oil

Well-travelled engines can be prone to greater wear and higher oil consumption, which can lead to reduced performance and premature failure. Cleaner engines can operate more efficiently. Efficient engines are likely to feel more responsive.

Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K is thicker than ordinary oils, which helps to reduce oil leaks. It also contains 30% more anti-wear chemical than Shell Helix Diesel HX7 to provide the extra protection that well-travelled engines may need.

Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K also uses special active cleansing agents to help engines to operate efficiently. In independent studies, drivers said that their cars were more responsive after a Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K oil change.

Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K is specifically formulated for turbocharged and intercooled, direct-injection, high-performance diesel engines that have been driven more than 100,000 km and are fitted with blow-by-gas recirculation and without particulate filters. The oil meets vehicle manufacturers’ severe-service specifications.

Proven to keep your engine cleaner for longer

Soot and sludge can build up in diesel engines, reduce engine performance and prevent the oil from protecting the engine components. Tests at independent laboratories showed that Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K oil can remove the sludge from a diesel engine. The engine was run with normal motor oil for a typical oil-change interval, and sludge built up. The oil was then replaced with Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K, and the engine was run again for a similar period.

An immediate clean-up effect was seen with Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K, and, although it contained soot from the previous oil, the Shell Helix Diesel HX7 K went on cleaning the engine for the entire test interval.

To clean and protect an engine, the oil must continue to perform until it is removed when the car is serviced. With some manufacturers recommending longer service intervals, an oil’s ability to stay fit is even more important. Throughout the oil’s life, it has to disperse more and more dirt – keeping it locked away and preventing it from being redeposited in the engine.
